Romania’s Catalina Ponor, five-time Olympic medalist, in her silver medal winning performance on floor exercise at the 2012 Olympic Games. Ponor, a three-time Olympic gold medalist from the 2004 Games in Athens, retired after the Games, then came back in 2011 to make Romania’s World Championship team and then the Olympic team in 2012. She helped her team to a bronze-medal finish in the team final in addition to her individual silver.

I love this floor routine.  It’s so well-suited to Catalina: it’s sultry, jazzy, and mature. Exactly what we should expect from this 24 year old woman.  She performs it so well.  Of course, I still have to wince at those bent legs on that triple twist but the originality of her second pass - two whips to a full-in piked more or less makes up for it.

Sexism among gym fans

korbutflip:

Short rant:

Why is it when people post pictures of Danell Leyva like this

people drool over him like he could do no wrong, but when people post pictures of Catalina Ponor like this

she is called her a slut because of her leo?

It’s such a double standard.

People do always bitch about that leotard.  TBH, I’ve always kind of liked it.  Not sure why, maybe because I love Catalina Ponor.
